Designing outdoor advertising is visual storytelling. The expression of an idea can surprise viewers with words or excite them with pictures. Through the use of humor or drama, outdoor designs can influence consumer DECisions and sell products. However, designing for the outdoor medium is a challenging communication task that requires the expression of a concept with clarity and austere focus. When outdoor advertising is well designed, it will entertain and intrigue consumers with arresting impact.

It is important to engage your Audience, but keep in mind that your Audience is on the move, so the more clean and concise your message is the more it will strongly convey its focus to your Audience. Never use more than eight to ten words and keep the headLine less than five words.

Remember what you are selling. Be simple, be bold, be humorous and always add an element of intrigue to ensure an eye-catching design.

A note about color. Color can affect appetite, emotions, design, art, marketing, trends and its foundation is science. Choose harmonious colors and it is always a good idea to not use more than two or three different colors in an ad.
